Beauty for Your Week
Blooming bushes, books, and a YouTube video about Syria that made me cry.

I’m tired, y’all. Anyone else?
It’s been a week. I lost a filling while flossing, so I’m surviving on smoothies and yogurt until I can get that sorted out tomorrow. There have been some discouraging work things. The laundry never ends. And it’s officially hit triple digits here in the desert Southwest, which always takes some mental and physical adjustment at the beginning of every summer (my hair will be in a mom bun until further notice).
So, here is some beauty for your week, from mine. (And stay tuned next week for a guest post from
on the Beloved Disciple in the Gospel of John that I cannot wait for you to read!)Beauty in Little Ones
My kiddos can always make me laugh on a hard day. I was reading a few pages from my current book and my 4-year-old walked over to lean his head on me. After a moment of silence he said, “Mommy, why are you just looking at it?” I got to explain to him the magic of the book narrator inside of my head.
Beauty in Books
I’ve hit a bit of a reading slump lately, but I just finished Dear Writer by Maggie Smith and it was just the pick-me-up I needed.
“Remember: You’re not for everyone. Your work isn’t for everyone. If you’ve made something no one would object to, it’s probably something no one will feel passionate about either.” (pg. 209)

Yes Theory is one of my favorite YouTube channels to watch. Their videos always widen my perspective and make me ache for the Kingdom of God. This one is well worth your time.

Beauty in Nature
A few of the Creosote bushes are still blooming, and those tiny fuzz balls always make me smile and think of Horton Hears a Who when I see them. Here are some fascinating facts about them.
In pursuit of Beauty,
Love the way you're fighting against the drawbacks of summer, Tabitha, with these things lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8)! Well done!
Thank you for all this beauty. Chris's post made me weep.
